Throwback Thursday: Meditate with a 20-Minute Depeche Mode Playlist

Calling all teens of the late 80’s/early 90’s (and those of you that feel you missed out), you now have more reason to enjoy your meditation time! This week’s playlist includes five selections from Depeche Mode. Irresistble, right?! Yes, in all fairness, this Throwback Thursday Meditation Music is an easy nostalgic dive, but that’s exactly what we’re going for today.

Past and Present Meditation

A nice bit of meditation on The Past, the Present would be ideally suited to the tunes. Start out in a settings you would love to revisit from way back when. Choose some place that brings back the fondest memories and warmest vibes. Don’t forget to do your grounding and protection before you begin. But then, as you relax into your meditative state, let the darkness brighten and focus into that location you’ve chosen. Take in what you see starting out. There’s a chance you may see this place exactly as it was, or it could be that you’re seeing it as it’s transformed over the years. Make note of any differences though and find a place you are safe and comfortable to sit and take in your surroundings there for a bit.

To Start

When you’re ready, ask to be shown scenes of either:

  1. how this place and time gave you a foundation for the person you’ve become
  2. how far you’ve come since being in this place and time
  3. how to break with and heal any misunderstanding, regret, or unhappy memory

Once you’ve taken some time to observe or ask questions, stand and envision the scene in front of you divides like a curtain opening in a theater, letting a light-filled space open up that you can walk forward into. Once you’re surrounded in that bright light, once again, close your eyes and ask a follow-up question, either:

  1. what should I see in my present life that is giving me the greatest foundation for my future experiences and what should I know to make the most of this time?
  2. what should I see in my present life to be able to have the most gratitude for my past and what should I know to help me manifest the best possible future for myself?
  3. what should I see in my present that resulted from experiencing or overcoming that past challenge and how can I best experience an equal or greater joy in my future?

Next

After you pose your questions, allow your meditative sight to come into focus again on a new scene in your present (or possibly near future) that will help to answer your questions. Don’t forget that observation is key, but you are also able to take a pause and be communicative – ask for clarification if you don’t understand something. Ask follow up questions that come to mind while you’re still meditation. Speak with your higher self/soul if need be. Or talk with your highest guide (if you are connected with them).

When you’re ready to finish, turn around from where you’re viewing, and see that bright light divide ahead of you, walk into that as you return your focus to your physical self, and the exact space you are meditating in. Once you feel your body present in the present, you can open your eyes. Be sure to journal your notes for future reference and have a wonderful day!
