Signs Come in Threes

Very peculiar it is, how signs come in threes.

Part I.

At the beginning of the week a friend told me she felt very strongly about money coming to her this week. She asked me about it and I asked “Is your bonus supposed to come through?” She’d just been told those weren’t going to be paid out until at least next week, so I let it go. Then, I also saw her going to buy cigarettes and deciding to pick up lottery tickets while she was there, so I asked about that and in fact she had just done that exact thing earlier that night…even though it had been an unplanned trip to the gas station. We were both half joking and half hoping about the lottery tickets turning out to be big winners…especially since I never buy them myself.

As it turned out, I was right about the bonus coming this week, but there’s still no confirmation on the lottery tickets yet.

Part II.

Yesterday a different friend was preparing for a little weekend getaway with her husband. A spa suite and some time in the casino. She asked me jokingly if she’d win big, so I told her what I was seeing, and at the end of the conversation I saw “3-0-7.” I’m not familiar with casinos really, so I asked if that might mean anything to her, but she wasn’t sure what it would be. Maybe the sum of her winnings? Time will tell.

Part III.

Today I planned to run to the grocery store, which my son vetoed when I picked him up from school. I still needed a couple items, which I decided I could just get from the local gas station mini-mart in order to avoid him having a tantrum about a shopping trip. There are two mini-marts like this in our town, and for some completely bizarre reason, I went to the one further away, passing right by the one we always use, for one the one I stop at maybe twice in a year. We were waiting in line to pay when a sign near the counter jumped out at me: $3.07. For a pack of cigarettes.

So,…

I bought a lottery ticket. Just in case. 😉

About Signs

Signs often come in sets of three. It’s like the first plants the seed. The second makes one consider and stop second guessing. The third gives validation. When you have multiple occurrences like this, they together form synchronicity. Signs don’t have to appear in complex ways, overlapping stories with multiple people. When that kind of thing happens it’s more likely about the connection between the people. Signs are usually simple and personal happenings. You can and should acknowledge them – as long as they’re not in the front of your mind (i.e. – purposely LOOKING for them) then they count.
