What it means to be a healer

A particular media psychic told a long-retired student and client of mine that she “is meant to be a healer.” That was the only comment she made to her before moving on to the next in line. The woman left that event in confusion.   “You are a healer.” “Be a healer.” “I was told I am a healer!”

What does that mean?  In the many years I’ve been doing consultations, I meet people every week that tell me that someone (some other psychic or spiritual person or being of “profound” insight) has made a statement to them along those lines. Then they come to me and ask what the person meant by it and what they are meant to be doing with their life. They’re feeling like they have messed up, gone astray, or have been completely off-track their entire lifetime, because they clearly haven’t obtained a medical degree, and they have never taken as much as a massage class. All this confusion and upset because the “insightful” person felt compelled to drop the H-bomb and had no more input, of course.

Could those “gurus” make a more vague declaration? Why even make such a suggestion unless you actually can back up your statement and give some viable insights? What good is that kind of statement doing anyone?

You see my point. That list is not even a fraction of the possibilities. So you can see why, too, a statement like “you’re meant to be a healer” is so random…and useless.  The truth is this:  We are ALL healers. We all have the potential and capability to offer unconditional love and healing to those around us.

Already a Healer

Back to the woman I mentioned at the beginning. Does she plan to go back to school? Is she looking to come out of retirement? Does she have the resources, time, or energy to start training then start a new business of her own? You know the answer is “no.”  This woman is already a healer;  that fact and how she applies this in her life is what she actually needed to know. Now I know these people who like to go around making weighty proclamations to unsuspecting folk are not going to stop any time soon because their egos demand it, so the best the rest of us can do is anticipate that it’s coming. Someone, somewhere, at some point in your life is going to tell you that you, too, are a healer. Be ready for it…and tell them you already know this. Tell them you’ve been doing healing all your life. For everyone that has ever genuinely prayed for another, sent someone “good vibes” and positive energy, or simply hugged another human being just because they needed it, is a healer.

Healing Yourself

The gift to heal ourselves and each other is a powerful aspect of our spiritual whole. To what extent you, individually, choose to use and pursue your natural spiritual gift and apply it in your “human life” is up to you and the path your Higher Self has chosen. Discovering what this means to you personally is what is important.

Maybe you will see that you are capable of more. Perhaps you do pursue a side-interest of Huna or Reiki, or Qi-Gong. Maybe you take a class with me to learn spirit-guided energy balancing and healing. Perhaps you have the interest, time, and resources to follow an educational path to a higher or more traditional medical degree. Maybe you are drawn toward training and entrepreneurship in holistic medicine or an alternative therapy. We can only, alone, know what we are drawn to and what we are compelled by and what we know to be truth for our own paths. So follow that, and don’t look back and don’t be confused that you were on the earth to do something entirely different than what you’ve been doing all along. Be a healer in your own way. Understand that, apply that, and you truly are a healer.
