Candles for Meditation

Meditations are better by candlelight

Setting a nice atmosphere can be both relaxing and conducive to longer meditations.  Where to start?  If you’re a candle-holic like me, they’re the first consideration.  There’s just something peaceful and magical about candlelight.  Aside from that, I am told by my spirit guides that they and our loved ones who have already passed, are able to see natural light here, like that of candle flames…our own personal little beacons of light to the “other side”.

Man loves company – even if it is only that of a small burning candle.

Though these won’t be great for anyone with an aversion to scented candles, they are three of the best if you do want to fill up the room with some dreamy aromas. It was from the wholesale company Makes Scents, Inc. in their Tropicals line, called “Exotic Orchid.” There are lots of great options out there still. Like this newer favorite of mine: 2econd Life by Chesapeake Bay, “Canyon Mist” (Target, TJ Maxx). “Ahhhh.” Indian Teak “Scents of Style” pillars by Darsee & David’s (Google to purchase through a retailer online or near you.) And also this “Teakwood Myrrh” is pretty spectacular (DW Home) available on Amazon, TJ Maxx and other retailers.

Candles for Meditation Paired Perfectly

Sand + Fog has some great scents…I love the beachy one I received as a gift. (Which happens to be a perfect pairing for the Highest Guide meditation in my book, Through the Blue Door). This brings up a point about a little way to enhance your meditation time, is to consider matching your candle scent to your meditation to help deepen your experience. For example, if you are doing the Life, Creativity, and Nature mediation, or another that has you walking through the woods, like going out to your Personal Space (both meditations in my book as well), then you might want to pair it with a pine or forest scented candle.

And last but not least, I have to give a recommendation for the most fun of these companies, based in MN, Frostbeard Studio, where you can find book-themed candles, everything from “Divination Classroom” (incense and earl grey tea) to “Sherlock’s Study” (cherrywood, tobacco, rain). They are also available on Etsy.

If you prefer Banana Pancakes and Flan that’s up to you…but whatever your sensory jam is, just fill up the atmosphere with what relaxes you into that tranquil meditative state more easily. It’s all just right.
