Valentine Traditions for Love
As it turns out, the eve of Valentine’s Day 2006 brings us a full moon. February 13th , to be clear. If you’re one of many singles still out there hoping to meet your kindred mate this brings up a perfect opportunity to try to divine a little insight as to who this Mr. or Ms. Right-for-You might be by way of a little old-world dreamwork.
Here are a few different Valentine traditions to choose from:
On the eve of a full moon, try sleeping with the Lover’s card from your tarot deck under your pillow to invite a dream of your future love. This can be done on any full moon of the year, so if you’ve missed the Valentine’s moon, you’re still in luck.
On the eve of Valentine’s Day, place a silver coin under your pillow before you sleep. Your True Love will propose by the end of the year.
On St. Valentine’s Day, put two laurel leaves under your pillow to inspire a dream of your future spouse. (A sprig of rosemary may be used instead of laurel leaves as well.)
On Valentine’s Day, sprinkle 2 bay leaves with rose water and recite the following: “Good Valentine, be kind to me; In dreams, let me my true love see.” Then tuck the leaves inside your pillow case before you go to sleep.
Historically nothing is told about this, but I’d also be sure to add a little prayer asking that you might clearly remember your Valentine dream when you wake. Nothing is more frustrating than struggling to recall a dream you know was important.
Best wishes and sweet dreams!
