Petrified Wood Symbolism, Hopeful Messages

Q: I was given a piece of petrified wood in my meditation. What is it for?

A: The symbolism of petrified wood likely has to do with growth in connection to one’s past. That may be in this lifetime or in all probability, another lifetime. It can be an indication to take time to reflect on your past, or to learn more about past lives. If you think of the process the wood goes through to achieve this state, it is also about strength, endurance, and qualities of change reflected through the beauty of an aging process.

In this particular situation though, the metaphysical properties happened to be what was most important. Primarily useful as an aid in grounding and protection, petrified wood helps to connect a person to the earth and those energies. This, much like tiger’s eye stone, is related to the root chakra.

As far as alternative healing properties, it is useful for emotional stability and wearing it is said to aid with bone strength and density.

As a symbol in dreams or as a waking sign from your higher self or spirit guides, potential messages this sighting may include:

The current life situation you are dealing with is related to a past life event.

You are to be reminded that you are an eternal soul living in a temporary human experience.
