Meredith Vieira’s Interesting Today Show Dream

Meredith Vieira told Jon Stewart about a dream she had while on his show Thursday night. Then it was again brought up and shown on the Today show this morning. She thought it was a very weird dream. To me it made perfect sense.

The Dream

The dream as she explained it: Meredith was going into a bunker, but it was the Today show. She was nude. When she got into the bunker Diane Sawyer was there. Diane told Meredith that she is doing a good job and then they embraced.

The Interpretation

This type of dream would be considered a “release dream,” which is a dream where you are letting go of stress, negativity, wrong thinking etc. from things you are going through and experiencing in your waking, daily life.

This dream is about Meredith having some underlying apprehension about her job security and her presence on the show. It’s a stressful “make it or break it” kind of a job and she is having some feelings of insecurity (implied by the bunker) and is feeling exposed (implied by the obvious), which seems clear given the scope of the shows popularity. Diane Sawyer is just someone she respects and admires as someone that has “made it” in this same situation, and who is incorporated into the dream to give Meredith some reassurance and peace of mind that she’s on the right track.

Hopefully the dream helped out and did serve it’s purpose of releasing any fear or doubt. I’d say her regular viewers are thrilled with her presence and the great job she is doing, especially in the way of giving the show, as a whole, a much better mix of chemistry between the hosts. Good luck with her continued success!
