Encountering a Gargoyle

Yesterday I had a student write to ask me what gargoyles are all about. She apparently had a “scary” and quite unexpected encounter with one over the weekend. (I talked to her later and found out it had popped up in such a way as to go “Boo” and then left just as quickly). She realized he was just trying to be funny, but said she didn’t really appreciate the humour.

Gargoyles are actually great creatures to have around, in case anyone else should run into one. They are protectors and guardians, in part watching over earthbound spirits. Gargoyles also can be around us to teach us how to dispel negativity and how to see “through” things to get to the truth, rather than just looking at them superficially.

Her Realization

Two of the important things in this student’s case are that one, she was laughing about it in hindsight. She realized that she’d jumped to a “fear response,” when in fact there was nothing to be fearful of at all. (No coincidence either that the class before this gargoyle sighting was one in which we discussed the subject of fear). The second importance was that she noticed later that she actually has a couple of small gargoyle items in her home, which made her see that she does have some greater connection there. Gargoyles are around her more than she knew.

As with other signs, gargoyles may reveal themselves in a variety of ways. Don’t set expectation over that and one may just appear at the right time and place when you need a nudge. Pay closer attention to what you might be missing under the surface of the situation.
Reserve judgment. (Put yourself in someone else’s shoes.)
Don’t worry, you are protected.
Try to look at the situation from a spiritual (“higher”) perspective to see the truth.
You aren’t seeing what I’m trying to show you about the truth of the matter. Pay attention to the signs around you.
I’m trying to watch over you, but you are using your free will recklessly and I cannot interfere.
Watch over and protect someone around you; they may need your support right now.
